Why go to the US side of Niagara Falls
The Canadian side has the view; the US side has the falls underfoot. From Niagara Falls, Ontario you look across at the whole spectacle. From Niagara Falls, New York you stand beside the American Falls at Prospect Point, walk across Goat Island to the edge of the Horseshoe Falls at Terrapin Point, and take the elevator down into the gorge to stand on a wooden deck in the spray of Bridal Veil Falls. A chauffeured car from Toronto to Niagara Falls New York makes it one easy day: 130 km (81 miles) from Union Station to Niagara Falls State Park, about 1 hour 40 minutes of driving off-peak by the QEW and the Rainbow Bridge, plus the border.
This page is the US side in detail: the State Park, the Maid of the Mist from the American dock, the Cave of the Winds, the Rainbow Bridge, a day plan that covers both sides, and what it costs. For the Canadian side - the Table Rock view, Clifton Hill, Niagara-on-the-Lake - see the Niagara Falls day trip, and for wineries, the Niagara-on-the-Lake wine tour.

Niagara Falls State Park
Niagara Falls State Park calls itself America's oldest state park, and it is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year; its attractions keep their own seasonal hours. It covers Prospect Point beside the American Falls, Goat Island between the American and Horseshoe Falls, the Three Sisters Islands in the upper rapids, and the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Welcome Center, where you can buy attraction tickets. The park's main address is on Prospect Street in downtown Niagara Falls, New York.
The park runs the Niagara Scenic Trolley, which circles the park about every 30 minutes with a ticket good all day - $5 for adults and $3 for youth on the park's 2026 schedule, running until 29 November 2026. It fills on busy days, which is one reason a chauffeured car is useful: the chauffeur can move you between Prospect Point and Goat Island in minutes and be waiting at the next stop.
Prospect Point and the Observation Tower
Prospect Point is where the American Falls go over, close enough to feel it. The Observation Tower beside it projects out over the gorge with a view of all three falls; the park noted in October 2026 that the far end of the tower was temporarily closed while the rest remained open. The elevator in the tower is also the way down to the Maid of the Mist landing.
Goat Island and Terrapin Point
Goat Island sits between the two falls. A walk from the Cave of the Winds building to Terrapin Point puts you at the edge of the Horseshoe Falls, with Canada across the water; the Three Sisters Islands, reached by small bridges off Goat Island, sit in the rapids above the falls and are the quietest place in the park on a busy day.
Maid of the Mist
The Maid of the Mist is the US-side boat to the foot of the falls. Ticket booths are at street level next to the Observation Tower in the State Park, and boats leave from the landing at Prospect Point. The tour is 20 minutes, you are handed a free hooded rain poncho, and it runs rain or shine, seven days a week, including holidays. For 2026 the season runs from 24 April to Sunday 8 November, with daily hours of 9 am to 5 pm through October and 9 am to 4 pm from 1 to 8 November. Adult tickets are US$30.25 and children 6 to 12 are US$19.75, with children 5 and under free with a paid adult; the price includes the elevator down to the landing. The boats and facilities are fully ADA accessible.
The tour stays on the US side, so no passport is needed for the boat itself - but you crossed the border to get there, so everyone in the car still needs their documents.
Cave of the Winds
The Cave of the Winds is at 10 Goat Island Loop Road. An elevator takes you down into the gorge and wooden walkways lead to the Hurricane Deck, close enough to Bridal Veil Falls that you will be soaked. The deck is taken apart every autumn and rebuilt each spring because winter ice would destroy it, so what you can reach depends on the season. The park has phased out its souvenir sandals, so wear shoes you do not mind getting wet.
Tickets are sold in person only - at the attraction on Goat Island or at the Welcome Center - and entry is timed, so buy them first thing. On the park's 2026 schedule, adults pay US$23 and youth US$19 through 18 October; it is closed 19 and 20 October for maintenance; from 21 October the price drops to US$14 and US$10 with last tickets at 4 pm. The schedule is subject to change, so check the park's page on the day.
Niagara Falls USA side is 130 km (81 miles) from Union Station - about 1 hour 40 minutes by the QEW and the Rainbow Bridge, plus the border. Go for Prospect Point, Goat Island, the Maid of the Mist (to 8 November 2026) and the Cave of the Winds. Every passenger needs a passport, NEXUS card or enhanced licence. A chauffeured day is usually 8 to 10 hours.
The trip from Toronto
The route is the Gardiner west and the QEW all the way to Niagara Falls, Ontario, then the Rainbow Bridge, which lands you in downtown Niagara Falls, New York, a few hundred metres from the State Park. The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission lists the Rainbow Bridge as open to cars, buses and limousines but closed to commercial trucks, which keeps it a tourist crossing; in July and August it is slow. The Lewiston-Queenston Bridge off Highway 405 is the alternative when the Rainbow is backed up - about 10 km north, then a short drive down the Niagara Scenic Parkway. The chauffeur checks the CBP wait-time board and the CBSA's before choosing.
The Rainbow Bridge is also the only crossing at Niagara with a pedestrian walkway. The pedestrian toll is collected only on the way into the US - the commission listed $1.25 Canadian by tap, or US$1.00 in quarters - which makes a walking crossing possible for one leg of a both-sides day.
Do I need a passport for Niagara Falls New York?
Yes, or an accepted alternative. US Customs and Border Protection lists a passport or a NEXUS card for Canadian citizens at a land crossing on its Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative page; Canadian and US citizen children under 16 need proof of citizenship such as a birth certificate. A child travelling with one parent should carry a consent letter from the other, as travel.gc.ca recommends. The NEXUS lane is only for a car in which every passenger holds a card.
A both-sides day plan
This is the day most people book, and it works best as one continuous hourly booking with the car waiting.
| Time | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 8:00 | Leave Toronto | 1 h 40 on the QEW off-peak |
| 9:45 | Table Rock, Canadian side | The full view of the Horseshoe Falls |
| 11:00 | Rainbow Bridge | In the car, or walk across and meet the car |
| 11:30 | Prospect Point, US side | Maid of the Mist, Observation Tower |
| 13:00 | Lunch | Downtown Niagara Falls NY or the Welcome Center |
| 14:00 | Goat Island | Cave of the Winds (timed tickets), Terrapin Point, Three Sisters |
| 16:30 | Lewiston-Queenston Bridge | Back into Canada; declare purchases |
| 17:00 | Niagara-on-the-Lake (optional) | Dinner or a winery |
| 19:30 | Home | About 10 to 11 hours door to door |
Variations: drop the Canadian side and add the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls USA on Niagara Falls Boulevard; finish with dinner and a show at Seneca Niagara, about a kilometre from the State Park, for adults; or turn it into an overnight with a hotel booked through the travel desk. The tourist day in Toronto is the companion for visitors with a second day.
Where the chauffeur waits
State Park Lot 1 at Prospect Point is closest to the Welcome Center and the Maid of the Mist; Lot 2 on Goat Island is best for the Cave of the Winds; both are cars only. In practice the chauffeur drops you at the door of each stop and waits nearby, so you never walk back to a lot - and parking, where it is charged, is shown at booking.
The US side in late autumn and winter
The park itself never closes - it is open around the clock all year - but the season shapes what you can do. On the 2026 schedules, the Maid of the Mist stops on 8 November, the Scenic Trolley's last day is 29 November, and the Cave of the Winds runs a shorter experience once the Hurricane Deck comes down. What remains is the falls in ice: the American Falls framed in frozen spray, Goat Island almost empty, and Prospect Point to yourself on a weekday morning. A winter visit is a shorter booking - five or six hours rather than ten - and pairs well with dinner on either side of the river. Dress for wind off the gorge; the chauffeur keeps the car warm and close.
Which car
An Executive Sedan for two or three. A Business SUV for a family of four to six - you will come back wet, and an SUV takes the wet jackets and the shopping. An Escalade for the same space with more comfort. An Executive Sprinter for eight to twelve, which is the cheapest way per seat to bring a visiting family or a tour group across. A Jet Sprinter for seven who want the most luxurious cabin on the road. Accessibility matters on the US side because the Maid of the Mist is fully ADA accessible: a wheelchair-accessible vehicle is available on request, ideally arranged with the desk by phone 48 hours ahead. The fleet page has every class.
What a Niagara Falls USA day costs
A day across the border is an hourly booking: the drive, the border, the stops and the waiting are all in one block, overtime to the next full hour at the same rate. Sedans and SUVs have a 3-hour minimum and the Sprinters 5 hours, but a both-sides day is 8 to 10 hours. At the engine quotes of 8 October 2026, in Canadian dollars, before 13% HST and gratuity:
| Class | Hourly rate | 8 hours | 10 hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Executive Sedan | $135-$160 | $1,080-$1,280 | $1,350-$1,600 |
| Business SUV | $175-$210 | $1,400-$1,680 | $1,750-$2,100 |
| First Class SUV (Escalade) | $225-$270 | $1,800-$2,160 | $2,250-$2,700 |
| Executive Sprinter (12) | $475-$570 | $3,800-$4,560 | $4,750-$5,700 |
| Jet Sprinter (7) | $650-$780 | $5,200-$6,240 | $6,500-$7,800 |
The exact rate shows in the booker before you confirm. Bridge tolls, park parking where charged and the 407 (only if you choose it) are shown at booking. A one-way drop to a Niagara Falls NY hotel is a flat fare quoted in the engine. The rates page and the hourly service page explain how blocks work.

Bring a dry layer. Between the Maid of the Mist and the Cave of the Winds, everyone gets wet - ponchos help, sandals are gone. Leave a dry sweater and a towel in the car; the chauffeur will have the heat on when you come back up from the gorge.
Niagara Falls USA side: questions answered
How far is Niagara Falls New York from Toronto?
About 130 km (81 miles) from Union Station to Niagara Falls State Park, roughly 1 hour 40 minutes of driving off-peak by the QEW and the Rainbow Bridge, plus the border - 15 to 30 minutes on a quiet weekday, longer on summer weekends.
Do I need a passport to go to the US side of Niagara Falls from Toronto?
Yes, or an accepted alternative: CBP lists a passport or a NEXUS card for Canadian citizens at a land crossing. Canadian children under 16 need proof of citizenship such as a birth certificate. The Maid of the Mist itself needs no ID, but you crossed a border to reach it.
Is the US side of Niagara Falls worth it?
Yes, for being close to the falls rather than looking at them: Prospect Point beside the American Falls, Goat Island and Terrapin Point at the edge of the Horseshoe Falls, the Cave of the Winds deck in the spray, and the Three Sisters Islands in the rapids. The Canadian side has the panoramic view; a both-sides day gives you both.
When does the Maid of the Mist close in 2026?
The Maid of the Mist's 2026 season ends on Sunday 8 November, with hours of 9 am to 4 pm from 1 to 8 November. It reopens in spring 2027.
Can I take a limo from Toronto to Niagara Falls New York?
Yes. The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission lists limousines as permitted on the Rainbow Bridge and the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge. A chauffeured sedan, SUV, Escalade or Sprinter crosses with your passports and waits while you tour.
How much is a car service from Toronto to Niagara Falls New York?
A both-sides day is usually 8 to 10 hours: from $1,080-$1,280 for 8 hours in an Executive Sedan, $1,400-$1,680 in a Business SUV, or $3,800-$4,560 in a 12-seat Sprinter - CAD, engine quotes of 8 October 2026, before HST and gratuity. A one-way drop is a flat fare quoted in the engine.
Can we walk across the Rainbow Bridge and meet the car?
Yes. The Rainbow Bridge is Niagara's only pedestrian crossing; the toll is paid going into the US. The chauffeur drives across and meets you on the other side - you each clear customs separately.
Is the Cave of the Winds open in October and November?
On the park's 2026 schedule it is closed 19-20 October for maintenance and open from 21 October with last tickets at 4 pm. The Hurricane Deck is dismantled for winter, so the experience is shorter late in the season. Tickets are sold in person only.

3-hour minimum
Sedans and SUVs book from three hours; Sprinters and coaches from five. After the minimum, time is billed by the hour.
The clock runs from your door
Hourly time starts at the pickup address, not at our garage. Garage travel, where it applies, is shown at booking in 30-minute blocks - never a surprise on the invoice.
Overtime rounds to the hour
Run past the reserved block and the extra time is billed to the next full hour at the same rate, with tax and gratuity as on the original booking.
Waiting is included
Hourly means the car waits. The meeting that runs long, the dinner that runs late, the second stop you did not plan - the chauffeur is outside, the clock simply continues.

LimousineWorldwide.Directory
Our listing in the worldwide directory is how a Toronto client who keeps a chauffeur by the hour here can do the same in Vancouver, London or Dubai through a vetted operator. Every Canadian city and every country on this site is served through that network.

LimousineAssociation.International
Membership commits us to the association's standards on licensing, commercial insurance, vehicle inspection and chauffeur conduct - the things a passenger cannot check from the back seat during a ten-hour day.

HotelsWorldwide.Directory
Our membership of the hotels directory links the car to the bed: concierges and hotel teams across the directory find a vetted Toronto chauffeur in one place, and our clients find the hotel at the far end of the drive - Yorkville, the airport strip, Niagara-on-the-Lake or Muskoka.

VacationsWorldwide.Directory
Membership of the vacations directory puts our day trips - Niagara, the wineries, Muskoka, Blue Mountain, Prince Edward County - in front of travellers planning the whole holiday, with the tours, resorts and activities around them listed alongside.
