Toronto is home. Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa and the rest are served on the same booking through vetted network operators - one standard, one invoice.

What a full-day chauffeur is

A full day is eight to ten hours of the same car and the same chauffeur, from a morning pickup to an evening drop-off, with every stop, every wait and every change of plan included in the hourly rate. It is the booking for the day that has too many parts to plan as transfers: the visiting executive's nine stops, the shopping day that crosses the city twice, the relative in town for the day, the real-estate tour from Forest Hill to Oakville, and every day trip on this site - Niagara, Muskoka, Blue Mountain, Prince Edward County, Stratford - where the car goes out with you and brings you home.

Ten hours is the block most full days settle at, because a day that starts at 9 and ends at 7 is ten hours, and because a day trip needs the drive each way plus the day itself. Eight fits a 9-to-5 city day. Twelve is a long day trip or a wedding, and the multi-day page covers anything longer than one.

The full days people book

The visiting executive. Pearson at 8 as a flat-rate transfer, then ten hours from the hotel: First Canadian Place, Brookfield Place, lunch, Liberty Village, a return downtown, dinner, the hotel. The chauffeur waits at each tower's loading bay, the executive works in the back of the S-Class, and the assistant who would have booked nine rides books one. The as-directed page is the executive version of this day and the corporate accounts page puts it on invoice.

The shopping day. Yorkville at 10, Yorkdale at noon, lunch, Vaughan Mills or the Toronto Premium Outlets in Halton Hills at 2, home at 6. The SUV, because the bags multiply. Everything stays in the car between stores; nobody carries a Holt Renfrew bag through an outlet mall. The shopping page plans it store by store.

The family visit. Parents in from Vancouver for the day: the Distillery District in the morning, lunch on the waterfront, Casa Loma, a drive along the Bluffs, dinner in Greektown, the hotel. The SUV with the walker in the back and the chauffeur helping at every door. The sightseeing page has the routes.

The real-estate tour. An agent with a relocating client: Forest Hill at 9, the Bridle Path at 10, Rosedale at 11, lunch, Oakville at 2, King City at 4, the hotel at 6. Ten hours, the chauffeur driving so the agent can talk and the client can look. The real-estate page is written for agents.

The day trip. Leaside to Niagara-on-the-Lake: three wineries, lunch, the Falls, dinner in Jordan, home. Ten hours in the SUV, the car waiting at every winery, everyone tasting. Or the 400 to Blue Mountain for a ski day, or the 11 to a Muskoka lunch, or the 401 to a Stratford matinee. The day-trip board gives the distance, the drive and the block for seventeen destinations.

Eight, ten or twelve: choosing the block

Work backwards from the last drop-off. A city day that starts at 9 and ends with dinner at 8 is eleven hours, so book eleven or twelve, not ten. A day trip is the drive out, the drive back at the hour you will actually be driving it - the QEW from Niagara at 6 pm on a Sunday is not the QEW at 9 am on a Tuesday - plus the day itself. The Niagara page says ten; Muskoka says ten to twelve; Kingston says twelve or an overnight. Overtime rounds to the next hour at the same rate, so the cost of guessing low is one hour, not a penalty - but the chauffeur's next booking is the real constraint on a busy Saturday, and a realistic block is how you keep the same car all day.

A full-day chauffeur in Toronto is an eight- to ten-hour hourly booking with one car and one licensed chauffeur for the whole day, unlimited stops and all waiting included, at a flat hourly rate. It covers the executive day, the shopping day, a family visit, a real-estate tour, or a day trip to Niagara, Muskoka or Blue Mountain with the same car home.

The right car for a full day

The Executive Sedan for one or two people on a working day in the city. The Mercedes S-Class for the executive who will work from the back seat for ten hours and needs the cabin to be an office, or for a day where the car is part of the impression. The Luxury SUV for anything involving a family, a shopping day, ski or golf gear, a wheelchair, or a day trip with luggage - it is the default full-day car out of the city. The Executive Sprinter for seven or more moving together: the wine tour, the offsite, the wedding party, the crew. The fleet page has the capacities, and the engine will not let you book a sedan for six.

What a full day costs

The hourly rate for the class on the date, times the hours, plus HST and the gratuity you set; tolls only if you choose the 407, parking only where a venue charges it. The rate is shown before you confirm and the rates page explains what moves it. A full day is where the hourly product is unarguably the cheapest way to move: nine rides on an app, four of them at surge and all of them with a wait, cost more than ten flat hours and deliver none of the day. The comparison page does the arithmetic for the executive day and the wine day.

Meals, breaks and the chauffeur's day

A ten-hour day includes the chauffeur's breaks; they are taken while you are in a meeting or at lunch and never at your expense. The chauffeur eats separately and will not sit down with the party unless invited. On a day trip the chauffeur knows where the car can be left safely at a winery or a ski hill and where the good coffee is in Jordan Village or Collingwood, and will suggest an order of stops that avoids the QEW at its worst hour if asked. Ontario's commercial driver hours-of-service rules allow a full day comfortably; a twelve-hour-plus day is planned with those rules in view and, where needed, a relief chauffeur.

In the city: the roads that decide the day

A full day in Toronto is decided by four roads. The Gardiner and the DVP at rush hour, the 401 between the 427 and the 404 at any hour, the 400 north on a Friday afternoon, and Bay Street's loading bays at 9 am. A local chauffeur plans around all four - Richmond and Adelaide instead of the Gardiner for a King-to-Bay run at 5 pm, the 407 for a Vaughan-to-Markham leg if you choose to pay for it, a 2 pm departure north rather than 4. Out of the city the roads are the QEW to Niagara, the 400 to Muskoka and Blue Mountain, the 401 east to Kingston and west to Stratford, and each day-trip page says what they do at the hours that matter. Ontario 511 is the source the dispatcher watches.

Full days on account

For companies the full day is the booking that justifies an account: the visiting principal, the board day, the roadshow, the client's TIFF day. One booking, one chauffeur, one line on the monthly invoice by traveller and cost centre, with the hourly rate for the class on file so the travel manager does not price it each time. The corporate roadshow page plans the investor day stop by stop and the film and production page plans the call-sheet day.

Booking it

Choose By the hour, the class, the start address, the date, the start time and the hours. Put the addresses and times in the notes if you know them - the dispatcher plans the route and the parking - or book the hours and direct the day as it happens. Add a flight number if the day starts at Pearson and the pickup follows the airline's live arrival time. For a day trip, put the destination in the notes so the right chauffeur is assigned; the one who knows the Niagara wineries is not always the one who knows the ski hill.

Two full days, timed

The executive's ten (book 10, plus a Pearson transfer). 8:00 Pearson T1 as a flat-rate Route transfer to the Shangri-La. 11:00 hourly block begins at the hotel, S-Class. 11:20 First Canadian Place. 12:30 Canoe. 2:15 Liberty Village, via Richmond to Strachan. 3:45 back downtown to Brookfield Place. 5:30 the hotel to change. 7:15 Alo on Spadina. 9:45 the hotel. Ten hours and forty-five minutes used; eleven billed. Next time the assistant books eleven.

The Niagara ten (book 10). 9:00 Leaside, Luxury SUV. 10:30 Two Sisters, Niagara-on-the-Lake, via the QEW and the 405. 11:45 Ravine Vineyard, St. Davids. 1:00 lunch at Trius. 2:45 the Falls, Table Rock, chauffeur holding the car on Murray Hill. 4:15 Jordan Village, a walk and an early dinner at Inn on the Twenty. 6:15 the QEW home. 7:45 Leaside. Ten hours and forty-five minutes; eleven billed. The page for the wine tour suggests ten to twelve for precisely this reason.

The full-day checklist

Book a realistic block - count backwards from the last drop-off. Put the destination in the notes so the right chauffeur is assigned. Give a flight number if the day touches an airport. Say if there is a child seat, a wheelchair, a dog or a cooler. Name a second contact for the day. Tell the desk if the day might extend, so the chauffeur's diary is held. That is all; the rest is the chauffeur's job.

Ten hours is not ten hours of driving. A full day is usually three to four hours on the road and six or seven with the car waiting outside a door. That is the product - the car being there - and it is why the hourly rate, not the kilometre, is the fair way to price it. If the day is mostly driving, the city-to-city page shows when a flat fare is the better number.

FAQ

Full-day chauffeur: questions answered

How many hours is a full-day chauffeur?

Eight to ten hours is the usual block; ten fits most days that start at 9 and end at 7, and most day trips. Twelve covers a long day trip or a wedding. Anything longer than one day is the multi-day booking.

Can a full day include a day trip outside Toronto?

Yes - that is what most full days are. Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Muskoka, Blue Mountain, Prince Edward County, Stratford, Kingston, Barrie and Casino Rama are all full-day bookings from your Toronto door, with the car waiting at every stop and bringing you home.

Are the chauffeur's breaks charged?

They are taken while you are in a meeting or at lunch and never extend your day. Ontario's hours-of-service rules allow a full day comfortably; a very long day is planned with a relief chauffeur where needed.

Which car for a full day?

Sedan for one or two in the city; S-Class for the executive who works from the back seat; SUV for a family, shopping, gear or any day trip with luggage; Sprinter for seven or more together. The engine enforces capacity.

What if the day runs past the block?

The chauffeur stays and the extra time is billed to the next full hour at the same rate. Book a realistic block so the same chauffeur is free for the whole day on a busy Saturday.

Can I start the full day with an airport pickup?

Yes. Give the flight number in the notes and the pickup follows the live arrival time. Many clients book Pearson as a flat-rate transfer and then start the hourly block from the hotel; the engine lets you do both on one account.

Is a full day cheaper than separate rides?

For a day with several stops, almost always - and it is incomparably better as a day. The comparison page prices the executive day and the wine day both ways.

Do you charge for kilometres on a full day?

No. The day is priced by the hour. Fuel is included however far it goes. Tolls apply only if you choose the 407 and parking only where a venue charges it, both shown at booking.

How hourly works

Four rules. No small print.

The hourly minimums are the ones printed in our terms; the rate for each class is quoted live by the reservation engine for your date. The rates page explains what moves it.

  • 3hExecutive Sedan, Luxury Sedan, SUV
  • 3hStretch Limousine, Economy Van
  • 5hExecutive Sprinter, Stretch SUV, Coach, Limo/Party Bus

3-hour minimum

Sedans and SUVs book from three hours; Sprinters and coaches from five. After the minimum, time is billed by the hour.

The clock runs from your door

Hourly time starts at the pickup address, not at our garage. Garage travel, where it applies, is shown at booking in 30-minute blocks - never a surprise on the invoice.

Overtime rounds to the hour

Run past the reserved block and the extra time is billed to the next full hour at the same rate, with tax and gratuity as on the original booking.

Waiting is included

Hourly means the car waits. The meeting that runs long, the dinner that runs late, the second stop you did not plan - the chauffeur is outside, the clock simply continues.

Toronto & the GTA

Seventeen areas. One hourly rate.

The clock starts at your door whether that door is on Bay Street, in Yorkville, in Oakville or in Newmarket. Pick the area for the local detail - garage time, venues, the roads that matter.
