What Toronto means by a black truck

Ask a Bay Street assistant, a hotel concierge or a film coordinator for a "black truck" and they mean the same thing: a full-size black SUV with tinted rear glass, three rows, a real cargo bay and a chauffeur in a suit. Black truck service in Toronto is the chauffeured version of that vehicle - booked by the hour or as a flat-fare transfer, driven by a City of Toronto licensed chauffeur, and sent to your door rather than collected from a lot. TorontoBlackCarService.net runs two black SUV classes, and this page explains which one a day needs, what each costs, and when a sedan or a Sprinter would be the better call.

One thing first, because the search terms blur it. A black truck rental on this site is not self-drive. We do not hand over keys; every booking comes with a chauffeur, commercial insurance and a dispatcher. If you want to drive a black SUV yourself, a car-rental counter is the right place. If you want to be driven in one, read on.

Business SUV or First Class SUV

Business SUV - GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Suburban, Ford Expedition or similar. Up to six passengers and six large suitcases, three rows of leather, rear climate control, winter tyres from November. This is the black truck most Toronto bookings actually need: the family with five bags at Terminal 3, the golf foursome with clubs, the ski day with boots and boards, the film unit's department heads moving between a location in the Port Lands and a hotel on King West. By the hour it runs from $175-$210/hr, three-hour minimum.

First Class SUV - Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator or similar. The same six seats and cargo bay with captain's chairs, a quieter cabin, privacy glass and the kerb presence that a client, a principal or a visiting talent notices. It is the vehicle for the VIP arrival, the Muskoka weekend that should feel like a weekend from the first minute, and the executive team that wants to arrive together and look like it. By the hour it runs from $225-$270/hr, three-hour minimum.

The difference is mostly cabin and image, not space. If the brief is "six people and their bags, safely, in winter", the Business SUV does it for about a fifth less. If the brief includes the words "client", "talent" or "anniversary", the First Class SUV earns the gap. Models are "or similar" within each class; the fleet page sets out what each class guarantees.

Black SUV prices in Toronto

Every figure on this page is an engine quote from 8 October 2026, before 13% HST and gratuity. The exact rate for your date, time and addresses shows in the booker on this page before you confirm, and nothing is charged until you do. Most Toronto operators publish no figures at all; we would rather you compare.

The three-hour and ten-hour lines are the hourly rate multiplied out; the engine quotes the actual block, and overtime runs at the same rate to the next full hour. The clock starts at your door. Where a very early start is far from the garage, the garage travel is shown at booking in 30-minute blocks. The 407 is used only if you choose that route, and the toll is shown at booking. The rates page compares every class side by side.

Black SUV service in Toronto is a chauffeured full-size SUV booked by the hour or as a flat fare. The Business SUV (Yukon or Suburban) runs from $175-$210/hr and the First Class SUV (Escalade) from $225-$270/hr, three-hour minimum; Union Station to Pearson is from $180-$215 or $230-$275. Engine quotes of 8 October 2026, before HST and gratuity.

Black truck service to and from Pearson

The black SUV is the airport vehicle for anyone travelling with more than two people or more than three bags. Union Station to Toronto Pearson is 27 km and about 26 minutes off-peak; the Business SUV is from $180-$215 one way and the Escalade from $230-$275, against $140-$170 for the Executive Sedan, which simply will not take five suitcases. Flights are tracked, so a late landing moves the pickup rather than the bill: 30 minutes of free waiting after a domestic arrival, 45 after an international one. Meet and greet - the chauffeur inside arrivals with a name sign - is an option you tick in the booker; for a family with a pushchair and car seats it is worth it. The Pearson page covers the terminals and the meet-and-greet page the arrivals hall. For Billy Bishop on the island, the Billy Bishop page explains the ferry and tunnel side.

Families, car seats and the school-holiday run

A three-row SUV is the only chauffeured class where two child seats, a booster and four adults fit without anyone in the cargo bay. Child seats and toddler seats are $25 each, selected in the booker, fitted before the car reaches you. The cargo bay takes the stroller and the suitcases together. For a March-break flight out of Pearson, a family cottage weekend or a hospital appointment with a toddler, this is the class to book; the car-seat page explains how seats are chosen by age and weight.

Ski bags, golf clubs and gear

Six large suitcases is the cargo figure, but in practice the bay is measured in gear: four sets of skis and boots, four golf bags with a pull cart folded on top, a photographer's cases, a band's soft cases. Blue Mountain is 160 km up the 400 and Highway 26, about two hours off-peak, and a ski day is booked as a ten-hour block so the truck is at the base when the lifts close - see the Blue Mountain and Collingwood page and Blue Mountain Resort for conditions. A golf day at a club north of the city is usually a five- or six-hour block. Long or awkward items - a cello, a bike in a box, a cooler for the cottage - go in the notes so the desk can confirm they fit.

Winter: why January is a truck month

From November every vehicle in the fleet runs on winter tyres. Ontario's own winter driving guidance notes that winter tyres can shorten braking distances by as much as 25% and that all-season tyres can start to lose grip at 7 C. Add ground clearance, weight and a long wheelbase and the black SUV is the class most of our clients switch to once the snow arrives - especially for the 400 north of Barrie, the 401 east of Oshawa and the hills in the Caledon and King townships. The dispatcher watches Ontario 511 on storm days and will move a departure rather than send a car into a closure. Honest advice: for a downtown-only day in a light snowfall, the sedan is fine and cheaper; for anything north of Steeles in a storm, book the truck.

Muskoka in a black SUV

Muskoka is 200 km up the 400 and the 11 - two and a half hours off-peak, three and a half on a summer Friday after 2 pm. The SUV is the cottage vehicle because it is the only class that takes the family, the dog (with prior approval), the groceries and a gravel lane without complaint. Book a one-way flat fare to the cottage or lodge and another for the return, or a ten- to twelve-hour day for a lake day or an autumn colours drive. The Muskoka day-trip page has the lodges and the road; Discover Muskoka has what is open.

The executive black SUV

A visiting CEO with two direct reports, a deal team between Bay Street and a client in Vaughan, a board member who wants the third row for documents: the Escalade class is the corporate black truck. It runs as an as-directed booking where the car follows the day, or a corporate roadshow across several meetings, and on a corporate account it is invoiced monthly by traveller and cost centre. For one or two executives who will work in the back, the executive car service page will usually point you to the S-Class instead; the SUV wins when there are three or more people or anything to carry.

When a black SUV is the wrong choice

Seven or more passengers: book a Sprinter - one vehicle, everyone together, cheaper per seat. One passenger with a carry-on going downtown: the Executive Sedan at $135-$160/hr or $140-$170 to Pearson is the sensible number. A wedding couple: the Maybach or a stretch limousine photographs better. The SUV is the right truck for the right job, not every job.

Black trucks for film, TV and production

Toronto's studios and location shoots run on black trucks: a director between the Port Lands stages and a location in Etobicoke, a lead actor from a Yorkville hotel to set before dawn, department heads moving between a production office and a scout. The Business SUV is the workhorse for these days because the cargo bay takes monitors, wardrobe bags and a cooler, and the Escalade class is the talent car. Production days are booked as hourly blocks against a call sheet, usually ten to twelve hours, with a second chauffeur where the day runs longer than one chauffeur should drive. The film and production page explains how a call sheet becomes a transport plan and how changes are handled by text through the day.

What every black SUV booking includes

A suited, City of Toronto licensed chauffeur who is Toronto-based and knows the roads; commercial insurance; a three-row SUV of the class you booked or similar; winter tyres from November; and a 24/7 desk with live chat on the site. The chauffeur's name and the plate are sent before pickup. Waiting is included on hourly bookings - the clock is the price - and on airport transfers within the free window. What is not included is shown before you pay: HST at 13%, the gratuity, any 407 toll you choose, venue or airport parking where charged, and child seats at $25 each. The rate in the booker is the rate you confirm.

Booking a black SUV direct

Book direct in the reservation engine on this page: choose Route for a transfer or By the hour for a block, pick Business SUV or First Class SUV, enter the addresses, the date and time, add the flight number for an airport pickup, and the exact rate shows before you confirm. Card is taken online in the booker; corporate accounts are invoiced monthly. Or call the 24/7 desk on (833) 931-6688 toll-free or WhatsApp +1 647-667-7689, or use live chat. Please book direct rather than through a third-party marketplace - it is the only way we can promise the class, the chauffeur and the price you see here.

Cancellation follows our terms, counted from scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours out, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100%.

Tell us what is going in the back. The single most useful line in a black SUV booking is the cargo note - six suitcases, two child seats and a stroller, four ski bags, a cooler and a dog. It decides whether the Business SUV is enough, whether a second car is needed, and whether the chauffeur folds the third row before leaving the garage.

FAQ

Black SUV service: questions answered

How much does a black SUV service cost in Toronto?

The Business SUV (Yukon, Suburban or similar) runs from $175-$210/hr and the First Class SUV (Escalade or similar) from $225-$270/hr, each with a three-hour minimum. Union Station to Pearson is from $180-$215 or $230-$275 one way. These are engine quotes from 8 October 2026, before 13% HST and gratuity; the exact rate shows in the booker before you confirm.

Is your black truck rental self-drive?

No. Every black truck on this site comes with a City of Toronto licensed chauffeur, commercial insurance and a 24/7 dispatcher. We do not rent vehicles for you to drive; if you want to drive yourself, a car-rental counter is the right place.

How many people and bags fit in a black SUV?

Up to six passengers and about six large suitcases in either class. With all six seats used, the cargo bay is smaller, so put the bag count in the notes and the desk will confirm the fit or suggest a Sprinter for seven or more.

What is the difference between the Yukon and the Escalade?

Space is similar; the Escalade class adds captain's chairs, a quieter cabin, privacy glass and more presence at the kerb, at about a fifth more per hour. The Yukon or Suburban is the practical choice for families, gear and winter; the Escalade for clients, talent and occasions.

Can I book a black SUV for a ski day at Blue Mountain?

Yes, usually as a ten-hour block so the truck waits at the base. Blue Mountain is about 160 km and two hours off-peak; a ten-hour Business SUV day is from $1,750-$2,100 before HST and gratuity, and skis, boots and boards ride in the cargo bay.

Do your black SUVs have winter tyres?

Yes, every vehicle runs winter tyres from November. On storm days the dispatcher watches Ontario 511 and may move a departure rather than send a car into a closure.

Can you fit child seats in a black SUV?

Yes. Child seats and toddler seats are $25 each, chosen in the booker and fitted before pickup. A three-row SUV takes two seats, a booster and the adults with the stroller in the back.

How far ahead should I book a black truck?

A weekday airport run, a day or two; a long weekend to Muskoka, a March-break flight, TIFF week or a storm forecast, as early as you can, because SUVs are the first class to go. Book direct in the engine on this page or call (833) 931-6688, 24/7.

How hourly works

Four rules. No small print.

The hourly minimums are the ones printed in our terms; the rate for each class is quoted live by the reservation engine for your date. The rates page explains what moves it.

  • 3hExecutive Sedan, Luxury Sedan, SUV
  • 3hStretch Limousine, Economy Van
  • 5hExecutive Sprinter, Stretch SUV, Coach, Limo/Party Bus

3-hour minimum

Sedans and SUVs book from three hours; Sprinters and coaches from five. After the minimum, time is billed by the hour.

The clock runs from your door

Hourly time starts at the pickup address, not at our garage. Garage travel, where it applies, is shown at booking in 30-minute blocks - never a surprise on the invoice.

Overtime rounds to the hour

Run past the reserved block and the extra time is billed to the next full hour at the same rate, with tax and gratuity as on the original booking.

Waiting is included

Hourly means the car waits. The meeting that runs long, the dinner that runs late, the second stop you did not plan - the chauffeur is outside, the clock simply continues.

Toronto & the GTA

Seventeen areas. One hourly rate.

The clock starts at your door whether that door is on Bay Street, in Yorkville, in Oakville or in Newmarket. Pick the area for the local detail - garage time, venues, the roads that matter.
