What chauffeur service means here

Chauffeur service is a licensed professional driver and a late-model black car, booked in advance, at a price fixed before the car moves. In Toronto it is booked three ways and this site does all three: by the hour, where the car and chauffeur stay with you for a block - three hours minimum for a sedan or SUV, five for a Sprinter - with every stop and wait included; by the transfer, a single flat-rate journey such as Yorkville to Pearson; and by the day, which is the hourly product stretched to eight, ten or twelve hours for a day out to Niagara, Muskoka or Blue Mountain.

The hourly product is the one this site is organised around, because it is the one Toronto's other options serve worst and the one the city searches for in the most ways - private driver, black car, hire a driver for the day, limo by the hour. The hourly pillar explains it in full; this page is the overview of the service as a whole.

The chauffeurs

Every chauffeur holds a City of Toronto vehicle-for-hire driver's licence, an Ontario G licence with a clean abstract, a criminal record check and first-aid awareness, and works to the conduct standards of the Limousine Association International. They wear a dark suit. They are Toronto-based and most grew up here, which on an hourly day matters more than anything about the car: they know that the Gardiner is closed for the marathon, that First Canadian Place's car entrance is on King, that the fastest way from Sunnybrook to Mount Sinai at 4 pm is not the one the map suggests, and that the 400 north on a Friday in July is a reason to leave at 2. They are discreet - what is said in the car stays there - and they do not make conversation when you are on a call. Languages on request.

The cars

Ten classes, each with its own hourly rate and minimum - the main ones: the Executive Sedan (three passengers, the workhorse, from $135 an hour), the Mercedes E/S-Class (the flagship for an executive day or an occasion), the Business and First Class SUVs (six passengers, the bags, the winter, the family), the Executive Sprinter (twelve, the group, five-hour minimum), the seven-seat Jet Sprinter, the Maybach, and the stretch limousine, stretch SUV and party bus for the occasion. Each is 'or similar' within its class per our terms; each is late-model, detailed before it leaves the yard, commercially insured and City-plated. The fleet page has the detail.

By the hour

The core product. Choose By the hour in the reservation engine, the class, the start address, the date, the start time and the hours; the rate for that class on that date appears; you confirm. The chauffeur texts the plate before the start and is at the door on time; the car then stays with you - meetings, lunch, the hospital, the shops, dinner - with the clock running from your door to your final drop-off. Overtime rounds to the next hour at the same rate; nothing is priced by demand. The hourly hub has fourteen shapes of the same booking - the half-day, the full day, multi-day, as-directed, the evening, shopping, medical, the roadshow, film, real estate, sports, the wedding and sightseeing.

By the transfer

A single journey at a flat rate by address and class: the Pearson airport limo with the flight tracked and waiting time included; the Billy Bishop run; a point-to-point across the city; a one-way city-to-city drive to Ottawa or Montreal. Choose Route in the engine. It is the right product for exactly one ride, and the comparison page is honest about when that is.

By the day, out of the city

The hourly booking taken to Niagara Falls, the Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries, Muskoka, Blue Mountain, Prince Edward County, Stratford, Kingston and across the border to Buffalo, with the car going out and bringing you home. The day-trip board gives the distance, the drive and the hourly block for seventeen destinations.

Chauffeur service in Toronto is a licensed, suited, local chauffeur and a black car booked three ways: by the hour (three-hour minimum for sedans and SUVs, stops and waiting included, no surge), by the flat-rate transfer to Pearson or across the city, or by the day out to Niagara, Muskoka and Blue Mountain. The rate shows before you confirm.

Where: Toronto first, then the GTA, then all of Canada

The clock starts at your door anywhere in Toronto and the GTA at the same hourly rate - downtown, Yorkville, North York, Etobicoke, Scarborough, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, Milton, Ajax-Pickering, Whitby-Oshawa and Newmarket-Aurora - with garage travel shown at booking where an early or late pickup is far from the yard. The same account books the same standard in Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa and twelve more cities through vetted network operators, and in fifty-nine countries through the worldwide network.

What it costs

The class hourly rate for the date, times the hours, or the flat transfer fare, plus 13% HST and a gratuity shown at booking and yours to set; 407 tolls only if you choose that route; venue parking only where a venue charges it; garage travel only where it applies and always shown. Nothing on the invoice that was not on the confirmation. The rates page explains what moves the hourly number and what the wider Toronto market publishes for context.

Corporate chauffeur service

For a company the service is an account: traveller profiles with the preferred class, hotel and flight details; the hourly and transfer rates on file; bookings by the assistant or the travel manager; a dispatcher who watches the day; and one monthly invoice by traveller and cost centre with HST itemised. The corporate accounts page explains the setup and the executive car service page the Bay Street day.

How to book, and when

The reservation engine on every page, or the desk by phone 24 hours a day. A weekday sedan in the city can usually be booked the same day; a Saturday, a Sprinter, a stretch or anything in TIFF week, on a playoff night or on New Year's Eve needs a week or more; weddings months. Put what you know in the notes - addresses, a flight number, a child seat, a wheelchair, a language - and the dispatcher plans around it. Changes are by text to the chauffeur or a call to the desk; nothing is re-quoted for a change of plan.

Chauffeur service versus the alternatives

A ride-app is a single ride at a demand-set price with a driver you have not met; a taxi is a metered single ride; a rental car is yours to park. A chauffeur service is a contract: a named driver, a specified car, a fixed price, at the door at the time, waiting if you booked waiting. For one short ride off-peak, the app is cheaper and we say so. For a day with three or more stops, a late return, a group, luggage, a client, a parent or an out-of-town destination, the chauffeur is cheaper per ride by the fourth and incomparably better as a day. The comparison page does the arithmetic honestly.

Safety, insurance and the standard

Commercial passenger insurance on every vehicle. City of Toronto limousine plates. Annual safety inspections under Ontario's commercial vehicle rules. Chauffeur hours of service planned to those rules, with relief chauffeurs on long days. Winter tyres from November. Child seats fitted free. A dispatcher who knows where every car is. Our membership of the Limousine Association International and our listing in the LimousineWorldwide.Directory commit us to the same standard at the far end of a booking in another city.

The sister brands

TorontoBlackCarService.net is one of a family of chauffeured-transportation brands under one operating standard, including eellee8.com in Toronto and Onroutz.com worldwide, and a member of the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network. A booking on any of them meets the same chauffeur, the same car classes and the same pricing rules; this site is the one built around the hourly product. The network page explains the relationships and the about page how the company works.

A week of chauffeur service, as the desk sees it

Monday: a Pearson arrival for a Frankfurt client at 7 am with a name board, then eight hours as-directed in the S-Class across Bay Street; a Sunnybrook run for a patient in Leaside at 1; a Sprinter from a Liberty Village office to a Vaughan offsite at 8 am and back at 5. Tuesday: three sedans to Billy Bishop for the 7 am Porter to Montreal; a real-estate tour from the Four Seasons in the SUV; the same patient at 1. Wednesday: a wine tour for eight from Rosedale at 9; a board dinner with four hotel pickups at 6 and four drops at 11. Thursday: TIFF week in September would make this the busiest day of the year; in March it is a roadshow, two S-Classes and a Sprinter, 7:15 to 5. Friday: the cottage run to Muskoka at 2 pm for a Forest Hill household; a wedding rehearsal dinner in the Distillery; the 1 am pickup from a Vaughan banquet hall booked at noon. Saturday: a wedding, a Blue Jays afternoon with the family, a Niagara Falls day for visitors from Edinburgh. Sunday: the cottage run home at 4. Every one of those is on a page of this site, and every one is the same chauffeurs and the same rules.

Ontario's rules, and ours

The Highway Traffic Act and the City's bylaw are the law; our terms - the minimums, the waiting allowances, the cancellation window, the substitution of a vehicle within class - are on the terms page and on every confirmation. Nothing on this page goes beyond them.

From our network: LAI article - private chauffeur services · LimousineWorldwide.Directory - Canada · HotelsWorldwide.Directory - Ontario · VWD - approved limousine affiliates in Toronto · BookingWorldwide.net - Toronto hotels, flights and activities.

The one promise that covers the rest. The rate you see before you confirm is the rate you pay; the chauffeur is at the door at the time; the car waits if you booked waiting. Everything else on this site is detail about how that promise is kept in a particular kind of day.

FAQ

Chauffeur service Toronto: questions answered

What does chauffeur service in Toronto cost?

It depends on the vehicle class, the date and whether you book by the hour or by the transfer. Choose the class and the date in the reservation engine and the hourly rate or the flat fare is shown before you confirm. The rates page explains the number and what other Toronto operators publish.

What is the minimum for an hourly chauffeur?

Three hours for the Executive Sedan, Mercedes S-Class, Luxury SUV and stretch limousine; five hours for the Executive Sprinter. After the minimum, time is billed by the hour at the same rate.

Are your chauffeurs licensed?

Yes - City of Toronto vehicle-for-hire licence, Ontario G with a clean abstract, criminal record check, and the conduct standards of the Limousine Association International. Every vehicle carries commercial passenger insurance and a City limousine plate.

Do you serve the whole GTA?

Yes, at the same hourly rate from downtown to Newmarket, Hamilton and Oshawa. Garage travel may apply to an early or late pickup far from the yard and is shown at booking. Each area page has the local detail.

Can I book a chauffeur for a single airport transfer?

Yes. Choose Route in the engine for a flat-rate Pearson or Billy Bishop transfer with the flight tracked and waiting time included. Many clients book the transfer and then keep the car by the hour for the rest of the day.

Do you drive to Niagara, Muskoka or Montreal?

Yes. Day trips are hourly bookings from your Toronto door with the car waiting at every stop; long one-way drives to Ottawa, Montreal and Detroit are flat-rate or overnight bookings. The day-trip pages give the drive and the block.

Is chauffeur service the same as limo service?

In Toronto the words are used interchangeably for a pre-booked black car with a professional driver. A stretch limousine is a specific vehicle for occasions; the limo service page covers it. The chauffeurs and the pricing rules are the same.

Can a company open an account?

Yes. Email the desk with the company name and a contact; the profile, the rates on file and the monthly-invoice terms follow the same business day. The corporate accounts page explains.

How hourly works

Four rules. No small print.

The hourly minimums are the ones printed in our terms; the rate for each class is quoted live by the reservation engine for your date. The rates page explains what moves it.

  • 3hExecutive Sedan, Luxury Sedan, SUV
  • 3hStretch Limousine, Economy Van
  • 5hExecutive Sprinter, Stretch SUV, Coach, Limo/Party Bus

3-hour minimum

Sedans and SUVs book from three hours; Sprinters and coaches from five. After the minimum, time is billed by the hour.

The clock runs from your door

Hourly time starts at the pickup address, not at our garage. Garage travel, where it applies, is shown at booking in 30-minute blocks - never a surprise on the invoice.

Overtime rounds to the hour

Run past the reserved block and the extra time is billed to the next full hour at the same rate, with tax and gratuity as on the original booking.

Waiting is included

Hourly means the car waits. The meeting that runs long, the dinner that runs late, the second stop you did not plan - the chauffeur is outside, the clock simply continues.

Toronto & the GTA

Seventeen areas. One hourly rate.

The clock starts at your door whether that door is on Bay Street, in Yorkville, in Oakville or in Newmarket. Pick the area for the local detail - garage time, venues, the roads that matter.
